Cara Lucas Kopke Obituary
Cara Lucas Kopke

Cara Lucas Kopke, 35, passed away on Dec. 13, 2013, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. She fought her battle with dignity and grace; she is truly an inspiration to us all.

Cara grew up in Wadsworth, Ohio, and graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1996. After graduating from Ohio State A.T.I., she moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she was employed as a floral designer. She was currently residing in Gahanna, Ohio, with her husband Ryan and son Jack.

Cara was preceded in death by grandparents, Jack Hudson, Earl H. Lucas, Jean Sobleskie; Uncle, Jim Hudson; and niece, Emma Jane. She is survived by husband, Ryan; son, Jack; parents, Earl and Diane Lucas; sisters, Beth Lucas, Anna Lucas, April ( Dan) Poch; brother, Jon Lucas; grandmother, Eleanor Hudson; father-in-law, Jeff Kopke; mother-in-law, Denise Kopke; brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Stephanie Kopke; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

It was Cara's wish that her body be donated to The Ohio State University Department of Anatomy for research in hopes that a cure for cancer may some day be found.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 27 at the Cox Funeral Home, 1376 High St., Wadsworth, Ohio, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a memorial service following at 7 p.m. Pastor Simon Forsythe will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jack Kopke educational fund at www.gradsave.com/jackkopke.

Our heartfelt thanks to Tridea Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care.
