Charles O. "Chuck" Shaw, 65, passed away on March 25, 2013.|
He was born August 31, 1947 in Akron to the late Lawrence and Thelma Shaw. Chuck served his country with honor as a Marine in the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, and was also a member of Firestone V.F.W. Post 3383. He worked at B.F. Goodrich and then at the Ellet Post Office as a letter carrier and always carried dog treats in his pocket. Chuck loved old cars and dogs. He fostered many dogs until a home could be found. His loving and kind spirit will be missed by all.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Barbara; daughters, Lisa (David) Ricci and Susan (James) George; brother, Larry (Ann) Shaw; four grandchildren that he adored, Brittany, Nick, Madison, and Jack; special nephew, Larry; nephew, Donnie; niece, Pam; mother-in-law, Mabel Beal; and many friends.
The family would like to thank ICU Unit T3 of Akron City Hospital, especially the wonderful nurses that cared for Chuck and his family and put up with his jokes.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at North Springfield Presbyterian Church, 671 Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44312 on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 11 a.m., with one calling hour prior to the service, Rev. Dr. Janet C. Lowery officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Chuck's honor to One of a Kind Pet Rescue, 1929 West Market St., Akron, OH 44313.
