Donald R. "Oly" Oeltjen, age 82, passed away at his home in Akron on March 7, 2013.|
He was born on June 20, 1930 to the late Ernest and Rosella Oeltjen. Oly graduated from Ellet High School in 1948 before serving in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a Machinist from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 42 years. He was member of the Sons of Herman, the Masonic Lodge for 50 years and a proud former Boy Scout.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia (Wylie) Oeltjen; sons, Mark and David of Akron and Jeff Oeltjen of Homestead, Fla.; three grandchildren, Marisa, Scott and Erica; sister, Shirley Hall; brother-in-law, Gene Wylie; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
At his request, no public services will be observed. Memorial contributions in Oly's honor may be made to any charity of donor's choice.
