Emma Belle (Epps) McGhee|
Emma Belle (Epps) McGhee, age 92, affectionately known as Sister Emma, passed peacefully from this life to a heavenly life into the precious arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at the Inn at Belden.
She was born along with her twin brother on February 10, 1923 in Wilmore, Kentucky, to the late Robert and Mary Belle Epps Sr. In addition to her parents; she is preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Elizabeth Johnson (Walter); her twin brother, Robert Epps Jr.; her sister-in-law, Rosie Mae Epps; and sister, Dovie Mae Higgins.
She is survived by her loving husband, Henry C. McGhee Sr., with whom she celebrated 70 years of marriage this past March; her sons, Henry C. McGhee Jr. of Canton, and James R. McGhee (Cheyenne) of Canton; her sister, Caroline (Lewis) Crenshaw of Cleveland; grandsons, Michael Johnson and Gentry Dillworth; granddaughter, Michelle Williams; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Emma attended Wilmore Colored Elementary School in Kentucky and was the first adult graduate of the Canton City School's Evening School program starting from the 8th grade through 12th grade. She graduated in 1966, along with her son Henry Jr. and also began college with him at KSU and graduated with an Associated Degree in Teaching.
She was very helpful in launching her son's first Woman's Body Building contest that started in Canton, Ohio and support her daughter's modeling school, as well. She was a member of Trinity Gospel Temple for 40 years.
Emma loved traveling which included trips to Europe, the Scandinavian Countries, a Caribbean cruise and she especially enjoyed her trip to Israel with her church. Emma worked and retired from Clarkins Carousel and also assisted in Real Estate.
She was a Godly woman who loved going to church. This was her favorite past time and she passed this love of God on to her children.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Gospel Temple at 1612 W. Tuscarawas with Bro. Dave Lombardi officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. The Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.
