Frank (Francis) J. Lucia, 87, of New Franklin, passed away unexpectedly December 29, 2013.
Frank was born October 7, 1926 to the late Dominick and Christiana Lucia and served in the Pacific for the U.S. Navy during World War II. Frank was a member of VFW Post 3383, loved bowling and golfing, participating in two traveling senior bowling leagues. He retired from Akron Standard Meats & Foods after 35 years of service.
Frank was preceded in death by brother, Angelo Lucia; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sam and Angeline Spagnola; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dominic and Mary Peters. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances Lucia; daughter, Christine Lucia; grandchildren, Laura, Amy and Sam Hunsucker; sister-in-law, Diana Lucia; nieces and nephews, Christopher and Kerry Lucia and Dan and Cathy Hawk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on January 3, 2014 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 4019 Manchester Road, Akron, Ohio 44319. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd., Akron, OH 44319 (SR 619). Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
