James Mace Obituary

James E. Mace Sr.

Jim Mace, 81, passed away after a couragious battle with a long illness, August 14, 2010.

Born in Akron, he was a life time resident of Lakemore. Jim retired from General Tire with 35 years service and was an honorary life time member of Army Navy 273, two term Govenor of Mogadore Moose 1082, and a member of the Airport VFW, AOH, and Eagles 555. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness and helping ways, volunteering to do what ever needed to be done.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Georgie and brother, Robert. He is survived by his loving family; daughter, Patricia (Leroy) Swinehart; sons, Robert and James Jr.; loving companion of 26 years, Diane Archer, and her son, Bill Hooker; grandchildren, Michele and Damon Ferguson, Melanie Swinehart and her fiance Michael Luke; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Aileena, Avery, Cavan, Alivia, and Mychal; sister, Jane Ann (Joseph Racke) Kahlor; brothers, Donald (Judy) and Steve (Marylouise); and many other dear relatives and friends.

Visitation Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m., with Moose Ritual Team Service immediately following at 8 p.m.,at the Hecker Funeral Home in Uniontown, where funeral services will be held Wednesday 11 a.m., with Harry Stewart officiating. Burial Hillside Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Lakemore Fire Dept. or Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH. 44333-6118.

I knew Jim from my many years with the Lakemore Police Department and Moose Lodge. Jim was a big part of the Police Departments fund raisers held each year. He provided his services from planning the event to grilling the food. He was a good man and a good friend. He will be truly missed.

Diane, we were so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. We will never forget the fun times we had at camp with you 2. Thunderbird lane didn't know what hit them when we were all up there!!!
