Jeffrey G. Dieter, age 63, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Martin, Tenn., passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. |
A native of Stow, Ohio, he was preceded in death by his father, Robert Dieter.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Saint Luke Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob Dio will officiate. Burial will follow in Mapleview Cemetery with military rites.
Mr. Dieter is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Barbara Slimak Dieter; two daughters, Lynn Caldwell and her husband Brad of Madison, Miss. and Amy Laird and her husband Thomas of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; mother, Doris "Dodi" Ackerman Dieter of Massillon, Ohio; sister, Marcia Bidwell and her husband Kerry of Massillon, Ohio; grandchildren, Jackson and Garrett Caldwell of Madison, Miss. and Stephen and Emma Lynn Laird of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; mother-in-law, Marion "Cookie" Slimak of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; along with several nieces, and one nephew.
Mr. Dieter was a member of Saint Luke Catholic Church in Smyrna, Tenn. He was a 1967 graduate of Stow High School in Stow, Ohio, obtaining his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Akron and his Master's Degree from Frostburg State in Maryland. Mr. Dieter served in the United States Coast Guard. He was a retired Quality Technical Manager with Goodyear. Mr. Dieter loved traveling and planning vacations for his family, he followed the Detroit Tigers, but his greatest joy was watching his grandsons play ball and his granddaughter performing gymnastics.
John Juergensen, Danny Basso, D Thornton, Tim King, Carlos Parr, and Mark Ward will serve as pallbearers.
