NORTON -- John George Hnat, 94, a faithful servant of the Lord, passed away October 3, 2013.
He was born on September 21, 1919 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Nellie Mae McClain Hnat in 2007.
A World War II veteran, he retired from Akron Porcelain Company. He was a Sunday School teacher and church leader at West Hill Baptist Church. He served as a Boy Scout leader and Little League coach. He loved fishing, gardening and his grandchildren.
His family includes sons, John, Jr. (Diane), James (Linda), and William (Janice); grandsons, John, III, Paul, Timothy and Steven; great-granddaughters, Carly, Alexis, Olivia, Cameron and Emily; great-grandson, George Timothy; and a sister, Francis Sawyer.
The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2013 at Cox Funeral Home, 222 Norton Avenue, Barberton, Ohio. Burial at Greenlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 6 at Cox Funeral Home.
