Joyce Marie Dane Ciraldo, 70, passed away Feb. 10, 2013.
Joy was born on Aug. 18, 1942 in Akron to the late Ross Thomas Dane and Evelyn Sarah Maitland Dane and lived there all her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Carl Thomas.
We were blessed by Joy's courage, determination and generosity. She was a faithful member of St. Anthony Parish, a phenomenal cook with many years in food service and incredible Sunday family dinners, and had a deeply caring side that was manifested in her later nursing career in her patients she served and the boundless love and care she shared with friends and family.
Joy is survived by her loving husband, Paul (Placido); sons, Ralph (Lori), David (Cindy), John (Peggy), Antonino (Peggy), and Paul Michael (Diane); 11 grandchildren, (Heather, Amber, Tiffany, Anna, Christopher, Joseph, James, Veronica, Matthew, William and Christina); seven great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, 9:30 am at St. Anthony Church, 83 Mosser Place, Akron. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hennessy-Bagnoli Funeral Home, 936 N. Main St., Akron. Joyce's final resting place will be Holy Cross Cemetery.
From her memoirs written in 1996, she wrote something that has timeless relevance and will be a source of inspiration and comfort:
"This is where I sign off for today. Happy thoughts surround me and outweigh the sad. God in His infinite mercy has brought me this far. Goodnight, Love Mom."
