Kathryn McCormick


STOW Kathryn McCormick Alexander, died January 21, 2005.

She was born in Akron in 1921 to Stephen and Lucille Swope McCormick and had been a Stow resident since 1952.

Kathryn was a member of St. Martha's Class of 1936, a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, the University of Akron, and Mandel School of C.W.R.U.

She worked as a licensed, professional Social Worker for Summit County Services in Child Day Care between 1972 and 1987. She was awarded the "Social Worker of the Year" in 1981 and again in 1983.

Kathryn was a member of Sapphire Circle of Theta Phi Alpha Sorority and was a volunteer teacher at the International Institute.

She was preceded by her husband, Alvin J. Alexander Jr. in 1988. Kathryn and Alvin leave four children, Mary Suz anne Clark (Reed) and grand daughter, Johnna of Lincoln, Nebraska, Stephen (Rosalie Hiebel) of Copley, Kate E. (Tom Saukup) and granddaughters, Karen and Erica of Saratoga, Calif., John Alexander (Shelly) and granddaughter, Jessica of Gilbert, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Geraldine M. McCormick (William S. deceased); three nieces; many, many dear friends; and kind neighbors; the "push-in" crew and deepest gratitude to the compassionate care of the Hospice personnel.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Dunn-Quigley, Ciriello & Carr Stow Chapel (Kent Rd. at Rt. 91) and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow where a memo rial Mass will be celebrated at 1 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
