Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, "Craig" James, 75, passed away peacefully on 22 Feb. 2014 in Tucson, Arizona.
Craig was preceded by son, Mike James. He is survived by wife of 42 years, Cheryl; son, Barry (Robin); grandkids, Michael and Aliisa; brother, Tom (Jan); and sister, Peggy (Bill).
Craig served ten years in the USAF as a B-52 pilot. He joined Delta Airlines in 1967 as a pilot. He was an F-8 pilot at Dobbins NASGA. Craig retired after 30 years with Delta as a Boeing 767 Captain. Craig enjoyed traveling with Cheryl, sailing, tennis, golfing, cycling, sports cars and his grandkids.
A memorial service is planned for June in Thomson, Georgia.

Cheryl, I was a classmate of Craig's and had planned to attend the memorial service as I live in Warrenton, GA. However, I fell and broke some ribs just a few days before the date of the service. I'm sorry I couldn't make it; I would liked to have meet you.

As the memorial service draws near, I find myself reflecting even more on the life and character of the handsome pilot I was always proud to call my uncle. Although there are no words to express the sadness of his passing, I will always remember him for his easy smile, kind eyes, and quiet, commanding presence. Uncle Craig, you'll never be forgotten and forever be missed.

There will be a "celebration of life" memorial service for Craig on June 7, 2014 @ 2:00pm , held in the Sanctuary of Begg's Funeral Home, Thomson, GA.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and condolences. Craig was a kind and gentle man ... The love of my life !
He fought a long and courageous battle. May he rest in peace.

I didn't know Craig well in high school since I only spent last year and a half at East. However, in all the years then and up to today, I've only heard what a great human being he was. Those who were close to Craig have to had to felt very fortunate to share his life. Phil Phillips, 1956

Craig is one of the finest gentleman I have ever met. A very friendly person and a great pilot. He will be missed by many. Delta Air Lines was fortunate to have him during the Golden years of Delta.

Deepest sympathy in Craig's passing, I will always remember his smile and easy going ways. To me, he will always remain known as "Uncle", as I am old enough to remember him as a teenager. I appreciated his loyalty to his sons and grandchildren, and through them, knew of him in later years. My heart, and the hearts of my family, send our love and condolences to our dear cousins. We know without a doubt, we shall all meet again someday, and rest easier knowing he is now in God's Arms.

Cheryl, Flew with Craig on B-747 and enjoyed his quiet, easy way of getting the job done. We were class mates at the Boing Factory School and you and my wife came out to Seattle at the end of school. Just think......someday Craig and his sons will be together again......throughout eternity! The James family were our neighbors in East Point, Ga. His sons adored their dad, and Craig loved his family dearly. May God comfort and bless
