Powers

Margaret Powers, born November 18, 1932, passed away July 6, 2018.

She is survived by son, Michael (Patricia) Payne, Bentonville, Ark.; daughter, Lisa Payne-Wells, Uniontown, Ohio; grandchildren, D. Michael Wells, Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Emily (Jacob) Hunnicutt; great grandchildren, Heidi and Holly Hunnicutt, Uniontown, Ohio; brothers, John (Lynn) Blucker, Rancho Cucamanga, Calif., and Tom (Suzi) Blucker, Hermitage, Tenn.; sister Judy Hipp, Galvaston, Texas; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

She was a very happy person, loved children, animals and reading. When her children were grown she was employed by First National Bank and quickly advanced to the position of Safe Deposit Manager. She loved the position as she was permitted to teach classes on legalities of safe deposit and often traveling to branches in other locations. She also taught classes under the auspices of Akron University. She retired early, in order to spend more time with her grandchildren. She took them on hikes to the parks and on the weekends visited state lodges. When they spent weekends in her home she taught them to play ping-pong and poker. She was most proud of the fact that both Michael and Emily, when requested to write an essay on the individual that most influenced their life, selected her. Each saying she was the one they could most depend on and was always there when they needed help. She adored her grandchildren.

One of her friends said "She walks in sunshine and spread it's rays on all who know and love her." She loved and was loved by many. She will live in our hearts forever.

Per her request, cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours. Remember her as she was--always laughing and happy.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Medical Hospital. Condolences may be sent to: Adams-Mason Funeral Home, 791 E. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44305
