Mary Ann Powell Obituary
Mary Ann Powell was born March 15, 1947 to the late Pastors Roger Lee and Annie C. Greer in Akron, Ohio. She attended South High School, where she met and married William J. Powell, Sr. She was preceded in death by parents, and husband, William Powell, Sr.; son, William Powell, Jr.; grandson, Allen Powell; brother, Michael Greer; Aunt Minnie Colbert, Aunt Ethel Riser, Aunt Gertha (Nathaniel) Edwards; and uncle, Robert Smith.

Mary was employed at Hawthorne Psychiatric Hospital for several years, last employed with Interim Nursing Agency until 2006, when she became too ill to continue working. Mary was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at an early age. Mary was a faithful member of Miracle Revival Fellowship Church, where she later became overseer. She worked faithfully in the church, driving the church van, directing the choir, socializing with the elderly, and having fun with the children. Mary's hobbies included, making hats, flower arrangements, and planning weddings for many.

Mary leaves to mourn her passing, her sons, Christopher (Heather) and Juan (Neecka) Powell; daughter-in-law, Candice Allen-Powell; brothers, Roger L. Greer, Jr., David Greer and Anthony Paul Greer; sister, Denise Greer; special aunts, Willie Grace (Robert) Jones, Addie (Roy) Singletary, Lucille Smith. Mary leaves twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Hattie Powell; brother-in-law, Wiley (Georgetta) Powell; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Stewart and Calhoun Funeral Home. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 1931 Parkgate Ave., Akron, OH 44320.
