Matt was a fraternity brother of mine at W&L. He was someone who made me feel welcome when I knew nobody. I always considered him a good friend, and someone I could trust. The world is lessened without him.

I had only known Matthew for a year. He was in our house once and did a workshop at our church, Faith Lutheran, Kent, Ohio. Even then, my heart goes out to you and all you who mourn are in my prayers. Pastor Kent G. Wartick, Kent, Ohio

We are so sad and thinking of everyone in Ohio. Our grandmas, Ethel and Evelyn, were sisters, and we saw Matthew infrequently, but of course he made an impression each time! :) Our hearts are heavy for you in Downers Grove, Illinois. Jill and Tom Browning.

Dear Ruthie, Garrett, Devan, Gaven and family,
In time like this there are no right words to use except words of prayer for all of you.
We pray that God will comfort you and give you peace in your heart, mind and soul. Peace that surpases all human understanding that we can only find in Christ Jesus.
Lean on our blessed hope that one day we will be together with Matthew forever.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
