Dear Coach Fenwick,
The news of Mike's passing is stunning. The world lost one of it's brightest stars. Thank you for everything you did for me personally, as well as the community as a whole. As you can see from this guest book, Mike touched countless lives in so many ways they'll run out of gigabytes trying to list them all. I knew him every step of the way from St. Sebastian, through St. Vincent, Akron U., and beyond. He was a great man. My condolences to you and his wonderful family. Class never goes out of style.

I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. My brother David mentioned it to me today and I was shocked. I remember Mike from the St. Sebastian days...he was the friend of my older brother and I was always the pest while the guys would be playing pool in our basement. I have seen him in the past few years. He was such a kind person. I'm so sorry.

As a longtime close friend and coworker of Mike's I am deeply saddened by his passing. I have lived in Tampa for over a year now but Mike was the last friend I visited before moving. Mike had an amazing personality, his sense of humor was legendary, and he had a heart of gold. I have many fond memories of times spent with Mike, he will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers to his family and other friends. Mike and I prayed many times together, we never began a day of work without one! You cannot replace a Michael Fenwick, he was indeed one of a kind!

Dearest Maureen, Jim, and all of the Family,
Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with all of you. My most vivid memories of Mike are of him as a little boy playing at Lake Mohawk with his sibs and cousins. These many entries in the guest book are a testament to the loving man he grew up to become. Rest assured he is now smiling in the presence of our loving God.

Family,
Words escape, time flies, God's in His Heaven, all's right with the world. My favorite memories of Michael are at family picnics when Fenwicks played Non-Fenwicks. Even as kids there was never a doubt about who would win.
Although we may not feel that way now we all know Mike's the lucky one to be HOME. May God rest his soul and continue to give us, left behind, strength and guidance in our lives. May his smile be with us always.

I was saddened to hear about Mike. I remember him and Kevin from St. Sebastian and what a great basketball player he was - he made it look so easy, and I was so bad. My sympathy to all.

Goodlooking and poised, Mike was quick to smile and slow to anger. Fenny made friends easily. He was resourceful and creative and loved and respected his family and friends.
He worked hard. Often, he was up at 5am and lunched at 2pm. Boned up on coffee and skipped breakfast. But he didn't attacked the job--he worked steadily, thoughtfully, quietly. Michael never lost his temper on the job sight--he didn't place himself in a position that might cause him to kick, cuss, or throw. And his work was excellent.
Michael networked. He brought men together. Though his academic past and athletic feats preceeded introductions, he bragged about his family and friends. He stayed proud of us. He made unlikely teams of folks from different walks of life and produced results. Those relationships made laughter, love, and money.
Fenny took time to smell the roses and was drawn to children and those who stayed close to the child within.
Mike Fenwick was honest, generous and kind.
Fenny loved the outdoors. Although Summer might be too hot and Winter too long, he endured to see those bright blue Fall skies and Spring's purple crocus.
Mikey didn't complain. Without hesitation he always took responsibility for more than he owed.
Michael showed me the great value of sleep and quiet reflection.
Thank you Maureen and Jim--you did good.
I sorely miss my dear, dear friend.

To the Fenwick Family:
I am so sorry for your loss. Having served as Mike's "vice president" in 8th grade, he will always hold a special place in my heart. I will never forget his beautiful smile. He was truly one of a kind. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Fenwick Family,
I always had great times with Mike, and all of us looked up to him and we were all drawn to his gift of charisma. All the sports teams, the pick up basketball that helped me so much in developing as a young athlete, Mike and Kevin always made sure to call me and let me know where the game was that day/night. All the Fenwick’s made sports the best and most competitive, especially Mr. Fenwick as coach, and Mike as the best player and leader, no matter which sport.
The fishing trips with Mike and Kevin are some of my fondest memories.
His parents and grand parents and aunts and uncles were always so nice to us, especially on fishing trips to Lake Mohawk.
When you grow up and start your own family you lose touch with many important people, but in the case of Mike, and many of the names I have seen here in the guestbook, I have taken something very special away. Every night after the prayers and the stories we read, my younger children beg me to tell them a story about my friends growing up. Most involve all the old St. Sebastian gang (especially Phil), but many of the best one's are about Mike, and Kevin and Tim. They just laugh and laugh. What a great family, and what a special person.
Sorry I missed the funeral, I have been out of town this week, and my son Michael just heard about Mike from Phil.
We will be praying for all of you, and for the repose of Mike's soul.

Dear Maureen, Jim and Family,
We just found out about Michael! We always called him "Michael", when we coached him in basketball at St. Sebastian. He probably wanted to hear "Mike" more than "Michael". What an unselfish person he was, always a team player who loved the game. What a pleasure it was to be a part of his earlier life.

Mike, you lived a bigger life than I can imagine. You knew everyone, childhood friends, St Sebastian, St V, Akron U, Phi Kappa Tau brothers, clients and contractors, neighbors and friends from every walk of life, the athletes, the scholars, golfers, fisherman, and poker buddies, Ellen and her girls, the family. We all love you and you loved us. This we know. Accepting our faults with tenderness. Your gratitude for those who stood by you when times were difficult is heartfelt. Even as a child, you appreciated the princes and the paupers of life, with equal dignity.
You chose an austere life of material simplicity and left this world wealth beyond measure, bestowing the gift of life to your organ recipients. Keep that beautiful smile shining on us, and give Frank a hug from me. See you when God calls me home. Godspeed, little brother. love, Laurie

My sincere condolences to the Fenwick family. We must all believe that God wanted him for bigger and better things. Mike played for me at St.V-M. in both basketball and golf. We were runners up in the state all three years in golf and Mike was one the guys who came through to get us there. In basketball we were trying to get the program going in the right direction and Mike was one of the guys again who was instrumental in us doing so in a very short period of time (regionals second year). It's really tough for me and I'm sure all his teammates to know he is gone. God bless you mike and I hope you are now at piece.

Sending condolences from Atlanta. Although I didn't know Mike as an adult, I can tell you that as a first grader, he was adorable. I will never forget seeing him on the first day of first grade. Shiny red hair, tiny nose, impy smile... I had no choice but to chase him around the blacktop for the rest of that year. Unfortunately for me, Mike was already a supurb athlete. I hope that fond memories will sustain the Fenwick Family and members of the St. Sebastian's class of 1976 during this sad time. Love, Ann Lucas Cronin

I just heard this shocking news moments ago. I am overwhelmed with memories, from all the way back to our high school days to when you visited me in La Jolla a few years back. Basketball, our Scramble State Championship with Pete and Tony, Bo Jackson.... I could go on and on. Fact is, Brother, I could always count on you for a quick smile and a good word, always. You touched many lives. Those who knew you will always remember and love you. I was just talking about you yesterday.....

Dear Maureen, Jim and Families
Our hearts are broken and tears of sadness in our eyes in the sudden loss of Mike. We have so many memories, the "Greenwood Ave" gang and the raising of our children together. Those memories will stay with us forever. Greenwood was just one big family with lots of kids with annual cookouts and parades by the kids, of course. We were priviledged to watch Mike on the basketball court at St VM and often were able to see him on our yearly visits to Akron, as he lived a short distance from Scott. Just one bright smile from "little Mike" could change anyones day. Our thoughts and prayers are will all of you. Mike will be deeply missed. Carl, Shirley and Justine Reish

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I can say that I speak for all my Irish teammates in saying that Denny Fenny will be greatly missed. I can still see Mike standing at the free throw line sinking 2 free throws in the District Championship in Canton to bury our rival the Hoban Knights! He had nerves of steel which were taught by his mother and father Jim who unselfishly shared his time with all of us to make us better men. As many have mentioned, Fenny's smile is what we will miss the most. The greatest thing you can do in life is to treat people with kindness and that was what Fen was all about. He shared his life the way he shared the ball on the court.
Peace to you Fen

To the Fenwick family, especially Tim. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
I remember so many good times with Mike, mostly playing basketball in the driveway at Mineola Dr. or at the St. Vincent St. Mary gym.
Mike's smile and optimism were contagious. He even made painting fun the one summer I helped him, and I definitely don't like to paint.
Even the way Mike played basketball showed how unselfish he was, always preferring the assist to scoring himself. What a great final assist by donating his organs and helping so many others. Mike will be sorely missed, but never forgotten by his wonderful family and so many friends his life has touched.
God speed Mike. Much love to the Fenwick family.

The Family of Mike Fenwick,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. I had the pleasure of running into Mike recently, and we reminisced about the good old days growing up on the West side. Mike was one of the most gifted athletes ever back in the day. I will never forget when Mike led us to the CYO Football championship at St. Sebastian's grade school with an undefeated 8-0 record. My most treasured memory of Mike is when he took the kickoff 88 yards down the right sideline at the Rubber Bowl to seal the championship game. I can still hear him laughing as he raced down the field and scored.
God Bless you, Mike and may your smile live on forever!

Dear Family and Friends,
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I have great memories of Mike from grade school as rivals through high school as teammates. We had many good times and shared some great moments. Fenny, I wish you could throw me that patented no look pass one more time.

Mike touched everyone who he came in contact with. The Conneaut Lake Open Golf weekend tournament will never be the same without you Mike. I, Ned and the boys will forever miss your laughter and wit. We will hold your memories you gave us for a lifetime in our hearts. You were one cool Cat Mike and I promise; you will never be forgotten. Funny, I have never ever wanted to get a tatoo but I feel like getting one now! Thanks for the wonderful memories Mike, I love you man! The Caldwell's- JJ,Pam,Colton, and Canyon-Dublin,Ohio
