Robert "Bob" Edward Condon, 86, died September 19, 2013.
Born in Oklahoma City, Okla., he lived most of his life in the Akron and Hudson areas. A Navy veteran of World War II, he graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1952. Bob retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. after 38 years of service. During his career, he worked on several global projects including Banff-Canada, Thailand, Wrexham-Wales, Nairobi-Kenya, and Sao Paulo-Brazil. He was a member of Christ Church Episcopal, Toastmasters, IEEE, Akron Ski Club, Rotary Club, and active in Boy Scout Troop 320.
Preceded in death by parents, and twin brother, William J.; he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty (Stanson) Condon; son, Doug (Jo Ellen) Condon; nieces, Pamela (Dan) Fretz, Cheryl (Phil) Nelson, and Cindy (Jesse) Payne; great niece, Gen; great nephew, Spyke.
Service to be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Church Episcopal, 21 Aurora Street, Hudson with The Rev. Larry C. Minter officiating. Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The University of Akron, College of Engineering.
