Robert Hall Brown, age 93, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 in Medina.
He was born June 11, 1920 in DuBois, Pa. to the late William Gibson and Vivian Hall Brown. Bob graduated from Muskingum College in 1942. He entered the Navy upon graduation as a fighter pilot in the Pacific during World War II and was extremely proud of his service to his country. He married Ann, his college sweetheart, on June 18, 1947. Bob retired from Westfield Insurance Company after 35+ years of service where he was vice president of claims. Bob enjoyed playing golf and volunteering on the Leroy Fire Department. He was a longtime member of the Leroy United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann (McClave) Brown, to whom he was married 66 years; loving daughters, Sue (David) Bird of Grand Rapids, Mich., Debbie (Dave) Nungesser of Dunwoody, Ga., Beth (Jim) Huth of Westfield Center, Ohio and Jane (Bob) Hyland of Phoenixsville, Pa.; dear grandchildren, Jason (Christa), Jonathon (Gretchen) and Jeffrey (Courtney) Bird; Ashley (Kane) and Meghan Nungesser; Whitney and Cameron Huth; John, Kevin and Brian Hyland; great-grandchildren, Christos, Sophia, Thano, Trevor, Drew, Landon and Linley.
Service will be held Friday, August 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Leroy United Methodist Church, 6777 Park Circle, Westfield Center, Pastor David Rittgers will officiate. Burial will follow at Westfield Center Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina 44256.
