Steve R. Sombati passed away peacefully at 93 years of age on August 26, 2013.
He was born in Tams, W. Va. Steve retired from B.F. Goodrich. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will always be remembered for his smile and kind heart, generosity, friendliness, and willingness to help anyone in need. He was devoted to his wife, family and his faith. Steve proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Steve loved to fish, golf, garden and dance, and was a sports enthusiast. He had great respect for all his caregivers.
God has reunited him with Olga, his wife of 65 years; his son, Private Robert S. Sombati; parents, John and Suzanna Sombati; brothers, John, Bernard, Andrew and Louis; and sister, Anna.
He is survived by daughters, Marcia (Jerry) Weinkam, Marlene McKee, Susan (Scot) Tribuzi; son, Edward (Judy) Sombati; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Steve lived a long fruitful life to which we all can aspire.
Calling hours Thursday, 4:30 to 8 p.m. at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd. in Fairlawn. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Hilary Catholic Church, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery where Firestone VFW Post 3383 will conduct military services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
