Thomas Thomas died peacefully with his family at his side at the Hospice Care Center on Ridgewood. Tom leaves his wife, Veronica and children: daughter, Roni and four sons, Thomas, John, George, and Damian. He was and will always be proud of each of his children.|
Tom was a dedicated teacher for the Akron Public School System. He retired from Buchtel High School, but also taught at Goodrich and Thorton Junior High. He was involved in the local theaters Goodrich, EJ Thomas, and Weathervane.
Tom was bigger than life to all who came into his world. For those that knew him well they knew he was a Proud Marine; he served in two wars, Korea and World War II. He was just 18 years of age when he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He met and married his wife Veronica when they were both stationed at HQ Marine Corps, Washington DC.
Tom's other love and passion was the Ohio State Buckeyes. It was a standard practice that the family was awakened every Saturday morning by dad singing the OSU fight song.
Finally, was his love for fitness. He was an avid weight lifter and runner. He loved sports, playing basketball in pick up leagues a couple nights a week. His love for fitness and sports multiplied with his children.
There will be a memorial gathering from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Adams Mason Funeral Home (791 East Market Street). He will be cremated and laid to rest with his fellow Marines and Soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. Any gifts to the family please send in Tom's name to St. Jude's Hospital and Research Center.
We will never forget you dad, in God's hands you are now. This is not goodbye so we will say "see you later dad."
