Walter J. Sokira Obituary
KENT -- Walter J. Sokira, age 81, of Kent, passed away early Friday morning at his residence.

He was born January 25, 1932 in Colver, Pennsylvania to the late Andrew and Mildred Sokira. Walter retired from Ford Motor Company in Walton Hills after 38 years of service. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, the Knights of Columbus Tallmadge Council 5613, was Past Grand Knight in the former Cuyahoga Falls council, and was a 4th Degree Knight in Victor J. Paul Assembly #1768. He also belonged to AARP, and the Primetimers.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew. Walter is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Sokira; his daughters, Vickie (Elden) Wells and Valerie (Tom) Becker; his son, Walter (Jennifer) Sokira Jr.; grandchildren, Will Wells (Jamie Whetstone), Megan Wells, Josh Becker, Matt (Eden) Becker, Abby Sokira, Kevin Sokira, Paige Sokira, and Andrea Sokira; great-grandchildren, Lilyana Becker and Levi Palombo; his sister, Evelyn Paronish; brothers, James (Wicky) Sokira and George (Cookie) Sokira; sister-in-law, Sarah Sokira; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Friends may call Sunday, 2 to 6 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home, 3333 Kent Rd. at Rt. 91 in Stow. Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, April 8th at Our Lady of Victory Church, 73 North Ave. in Tallmadge, with Fr. John Hengle officiating. Interment at Tallmadge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Our Lady of Victory Building Fund or to Summa Hospice, 444 N. Main St., Akron, Ohio 44309.
