William Sternecker, 66, of Lodi, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011 in Barberton.

He was born July 6, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio. William was the owner of Medina Veterinary Clinic in Medina for over 40 years. He was a lover of all animals, a wonderful diagnostician and surgeon. In addition to being a SCUBA instructor, having his pilot's license and competing in marathons, he also was an avid hunter, fisherman and sailor. William will be missed by many who knew him as a mentor and friend.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Nora (nee Hungerford); son, Geoff (Diana) Sternecker of Akron; mother, Mae (nee McKay); granddaughter, Sasha; sister-in-law, Sheila Hungerford of Medina; brother, Carl (Pat) Sternecker; and numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dog, Gracie.

A very special thanks to all of the families served by the clinic for their support during William's illness.

Family will receive friends at Waite and Son Funeral Homes, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St. in Medina. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, P.O.
