Haven O. Stout|
AKRON -- Haven O. Stout, 78, passed away February 3, 2014. Haven and Betty together again hand in hand with God.
He was born at home in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains in Avery County, North Carolina. He moved to Akron, Ohio is 1956 to work at the Ford Motor Company, Walton Hills stamping plant in Bedford, Ohio. He remained there until he retired 42 years later. He was a member of UAW Local 420. He was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church in Elizabethon, Tenn. Among some of his leisurely pursuits were, bass guitar and card games. At one time he was leader and bassist for the Country Western group Haven's Ravens and enjoyed playing all night games of gin rummy with friends and family.
Haven was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Stout (Lewis); father, Ed Stout; and mother, Maggie Stout (Vines); sisters, Ellen, Ruth, Berthie, Sylvia; brothers, Fred, S.B., Jarvis, Link, Lloyd, and Willie.
He is survived by his brother, Reverend Bobby (Janice) Stout of Elizabethton, Tennessee; daughters, Mary Jo (Roy) Lipscomb, Teri Hartline, both of Akron, Kammie (Troy) Allison of Waverly, Tennessee; sons, Stevie (Ginny) Stout of Dallas, Texas, William (Beverly) Stout of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Jeffrey (Nancy) Stout of Massillon; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; and special family friend, Mrs. Jodee Mull.
The Stout family would like to extend their special thanks to three amazing caregivers, Daphne Mellott, Kerri Male, and Stephanie Hazzard. They gave our father much joy in the final months of his life. Thank you also to Grace Hospice of Ohio.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave., (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle), with Rev. Bernard Christy officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the funeral home.
