KENMORE -- Troughout her life, Etta Mae wore many hats.
She was a singer, dancer, actress, wife, mother, grandmother, dance teacher and choreographer. She preferred to be known as a "dancer."
She owned and operated her own dance studio for 64 years, was a member of Dancemasters of America, Dancemasters of Ohio where she served as president for four years and on the board of trustee's for over 30 years.
Etta Mae was a Scotch Irish lassie from Kenmore who took fierce pride in the community and high school where she choreographed the musicals, choir and madrigals for decades. She was an avid fan of the "fighting cardinal" football team.
Etta Mae was extremely proud of her three children who followed in her dancing footsteps.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bill; her parents, Earl and Francis Young; and baby brother, John.
She leaves daughter, Mickey (husband Ron) Lebrecht of Levittown, N.Y.; daughter, Kim (husband Mikel) Gambuto of Lighthouse Point, Fla.; son, Mark (wife Erin) Smith of Cuyahoga Falls; four grandchildren, Dawn (husband Charlie) Fornara of Naples, Fla., John (wife Jessica) Lebrecht of Levittown, N.Y., Justin and Brooke and soon to be great-grandchild Cassidy; special niece, Carol (husband Pete) Chesebrough of Ludington, Mich.; brother, Earl (wife Elise) Young of Killeen, Texas; and also her "beloved students" at the dance studio.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception holic Church, 16th St. and Battles Ave., on Friday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Thomas McCann as celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Family will recieve friends at the Prentice Funeral Home 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. TODAY.
