TALLMADGE -- Lillian L. Shaffer longtime resident of Tallmadge passed away peacefully to heaven on February 22, 2014 at The Laurels of Worthington in Columbus. She was 94.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Manuel "Jim" Shaffer. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Dean) Berry; grandson, Michael; beloved life long friend and confidant, Helen; and her dog, Suzi.
Lillian retired from B.F. Goodrich Rubber Company after 41 years of service. She worked in the experimental division and was an integral part of making what would come to be known as "Airplane Inflatable Escape Shutes". She was also an active member of Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church, where she was elected as one of the first women elders of the church in the 1970's. Her life of service continued after retirement as a volunteer for 25 years at Akron City Hospital (Summa). She also was a member of the Women's Board, where she enjoyed being part of their annual rummage sale. Lillian also volunteered at the Haven of Rest Mission. The ocean waves, her flower gardens, and playing with her Suzi always made her smile. She will be missed by those who knew her.

A private family interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Rose Hill Burial Park with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Please watch these notices for further details.
