Pearl Louise Richardson Bertman

Pearl Louise Richardson Bertman was the seventh of twelve children, born May 19, 1928, to Ernest Cashus and Elnora Merkerson Richardson in Boston (Thomas County), Georgia. Life opportunities, careers and marriage took her from Boston to Daytona Beach, Fla., Philadelphia, Pa., and Akron, Ohio. Pearl was employed for 35 years until her retirement at St. Thomas Hospital of Akron, Ohio. She had a winning personality, generous heart, loving spirit and a compassionate desire to help others and be a friend to those who crossed her path. She was known throughout Akron for her love of God, dedication to St. Paul African Episcopal Church and service and devotion to the Order of the Eastern Stars.

On Friday, March 7, 2014, Pearl transitioned from this earthly world to an everlasting home in the arms of Jesus.

She was precede in death by her parents and eight of her sisters and brothers, Eugene, Cashus, Eldora, Ernest, Mence,Henrietta, Lula, and Martin. She is survived by three sisters, Ernestine R. Bellamy, of Miami, Fla., Estella R. Williams, of Lompoc, Calif., and Blendena R, Morris, of Philadelphia, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews including, Joseph Bellamy, Jr., Deborah R. Raing, Andrea R. Peppers, Cashus W. Richardson, III, Elvenn J. A. Richardson, Veronica S. Longstreth, Gail M. Wilmore, Arnold Young, Natalie M. Wesley, Carlton, Bellamy, Eldridge Bellamy, and Joy B. Lofton; cousins, relatives and friends.

Homegoing celebration will be held Monday, March 17, 2014, at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, Pastor Bruce Butcher eulogizing.
