Robert V. Munnia

Robert V. Munnia, age 93, of Akron, passed away March 8, 2014.

Mr. Munnia was born in Pennsylvania and had lived most of his life in the Akron area. He graduated in 1938 from Cuyahoga Falls High School. He worked at Akron Aerospace where he met his wife Alfreda. They were married 59 years. He worked at McNeils in Akron where he retired. He loved making wood crafts for everyone in the family. He was an avid bowler and golfer and loved to work out at the Natatorium almost every day until he turned almost 91 and his health started failing. He was an Army veteran during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alfreda; parents, Vincent and Anna Munnia; and his sister, Margaret Taylor. He is survived by daughters, Shirley (Jon) Swires, Karen (Tom) Semelesberger, Sandy (Don) Shipley and Diane (Gary) Gage; niece, Pattie Jones (like another daughter); 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial service will be held at Hope United Methodist Church, 2650 Corey Ave., on Thursday at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor David McGrath officiating. Family will receive friends at the Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Blvd., Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. The family would like to thank the staff at Akron General Hospice for all their loving care and compassion towards our dad.
