On Wednesday April 2, 2014, the world lost a man of great wit, charm and class. Bill Lind touched the lives of so many people, from his boyhood home in Elgin, Illinois to his honorable service as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in Berlin, Germany; from Key West and Costa Rica to Akron, Ohio, the place that he called home.
Bill embraced life and the people he met with genuine love and a personality fit for a Broadway stage. He challenged everyone to be open and accepting, and to embrace life with the same exuberance that he exhibited. He was one of those rare people that was as interested as he was interesting. His enormous presence will be greatly missed but he leaves a legacy of worldly insight, caring wisdom and eternal fun.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brother. He will be greatly missed by his sisters, Dotty Koon and Deloris Jean Stewart; brother-in-law, Bryan Koon; 14 nieces and nephews; 12 great-nieces and nephews, and a legion of loving friends.
A memorial celebration will be held in Bill's honor on Sunday, April 27th at Vaccaro's Trattoria, 1000 Ghent Rd., Bath, Ohio from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill's name to
, 70 W. Streetsboro St., Suite 201, Hudson, OH 44236 in honor of his dear friend Mrs. Vaccaro, the beloved "Mama V."
