Mildred Lee Steciow, age 93, of Mogadore, Ohio died Friday, April 11, 2014. Mildred was born August 20, 1920, in Kenmore, Ohio to the late Thomas Lee Dent, Sr. and Ella Elizabeth (Burchett) Dent.
Mildred Lee Dent was married to Peter Steciow, Sr. at Methodist Parsonage, Jacksonville, North Carolina January 18, 1944. During World War II she was a "Rosie Riveter" and U.S. Navy quality inspector at Firestone Tire and Rubber in Akron. She worked for various medical practices and disciplines and Dr. Schumann who was Director of Ambulatory Care at Akron General Hospital before retiring in 1981 from Akron General Hospital. During the Depression, Mildred lived with Dr. Hezzleton E. Simmons, the President of The University of Akron, where she became a lover of higher education and the arts. A graduate of The University of Akron. While living in Mogadore, Ohio, she was a member of Mogadore Methodist Church. Mildred and her late husband, Peter served as Worthy Matron and Patron of Olive Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 53 Kent, Ohio in 1967.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Steciow, Sr.; brothers, William Richard Dent and Thomas Lee Dent, Jr.; and sister, Josephine Marie Peden.
Survivors include sister, Juanita Arlene Gilliand; three sons; one daughter; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest with her husband (World War II Veteran) at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C.
A lover of education and the arts, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local youth in your area who is studying in the field of Health Care or the Arts. A co-owner in spirit of the Cleveland Indians for sixty-six years would wish a young person could get a surprise of going to a home game and experiencing baseball and apple pie.
