Erwin Russel Moats

Born November 25, 1919, Erwin Russel Moats passed away on April 13, 2014. He graduated from South High School (Akron) in 1937, and Akron University where he was in the ROTC. Erwin served as an officer in the Army Air Corps during World War II overseas in India. He had an esteemed career at Goodyear as a mechanical engineer for over 40 years. He was confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church (Akron) and was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cuyahoga Falls for 57 years.

Preceded in death by parents, Russel and Anna Moats; and brother, Howard, he is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy; son, William (Lina); daughters, Ruthie Keller, Ellen (Edward) Turner, Mary (Kevin) Broderick; grandchildren, Alison (Dave) Stamitoles, Eric (Ann) Turner and their children, Elijah and Elena; Aaron (Stacie) Moats and their children Weston and Fiona; Justin (Victoria) Broderick, and their son, Joshua and Neil Broderick.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, April 16 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home, 810 Portage Tr. in Cuyahoga Falls. Funeral services 11 a.m. Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2141 5th Street in Cuyahoga Falls, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens, where American Legion Post 281 will conduct military services.

He had a long and happy life and will be greatly missed by his family.

In lieu of flowers, should friends desire memorials can be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the .

The family would like to thank the Visiting Nurse Association, and Summa Home Care/ Hospice for their care and encouragement thru Erwin's illness.
