John Kenneth Wright, 86, passed away April 17, 2014.
He served in the Army and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. Later he enrolled at Akron University, majoring in Business Administration.
He was the President of his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta. It was at The University of Akron that he met his future wife, Margery Alicia Sturdevant. They were married on May 3, 1953, and they resided in Akron, raising five children. His friends called him Kenny and were friends for life; he was always there for them, keeping in close contact, meeting for lunch, and sharing life's joys. Everyone was welcome at Kenny's house. He always "kept the light on" for friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Penn and Hazel Ptomey Wright; his beloved wife of 57 years, Margery S. Wright; and brothers, William Jr., Donald, and Richard.
He is survived by sister, Sharon (Maynard) Hansen of McKeeport, Pa.; children, Linda Wright-Bower of Ft. Wayne, Ind., John (Sue) Wright Jr., Leslie (Tim) Crow of Stow, Janet (Sam) Rhodes of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Lauren (Bill) Walder of Canton, Ill; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Friends may call Monday, April 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Firestone Park Baptist Church, 310 E. Wilbeth Road, Akron. A memorial service to follow at 11 a.m.
