KENMORE -- Jeanette R. (Bachtel) Sullivan, age 88, formerly of Kenmore and Barberton, passed away at Canton Christian Home on June 8th, 2014.
Jenny went to Smith Elementary School and graduated from Kenmore High School in 1944. She was raised during the "great" depression era. Jenny worked for the Presswells while in school. During the war, she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" helping to make planes for the war.
Jeanette married the love of her life James R. Sullivan in 1946. During this time she worked for Yoder Brothers and for Slusser Reality. She was also a homemaker for many years raising her family. Among her likes, were roller skating as a youth, gardening and raising flowers, especially pink roses, and her many fish ponds. She was also an avid hiker and covered all the Metro Parks Trails, and enjoyed hikes around Lake Anna with her sisters. She enjoyed hosting the traditional 4th of July and Christmas get togethers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James and three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Stephen) DeOreo of North Canton; her son, Jefferey (Edith) Sullivan of Hartville; her sister, Dolores Reeves of Akron; grandchildren, Stephen J. (Heather) DeOreo, James R. Sullivan and Joel R. Sullivan (Rachel); and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service at the Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Blvd., TODAY, 1 p.m., with Ed Graves Minister officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. TODAY.
