William C. Sigel

William C. Sigel, 88, was born Nov. 26, 1925, and passed peacefully from this life into his eternal reward on June 8, 2014.

A life-long resident of Akron, Ohio, he was a graduate of Buchtel High School and Kent State University. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. His business career was primarily in public service, including Service Director for Mayor Roy Ray. He retired from president of Cedar Development in 1998 after 13 years.

Bill was devoted to his family, nieces and nephews, and the family of God and ever ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors. He will be remembered for his gracious, quiet demeanor, his wit, and his generosity to all, especially the poor and needy. He was an avid reader of history and the Bible and enjoyed classical music, gospel hymns and the outdoors.

Bill is survived by his wife of 25 years, Julia; son, Carl (Megan) Sigel; granddaughters, Greta (Howard) Thomas, Kathryn, Charlotte and Laura; brother, Carl Sigel; sisters, Mary (Robert) Broadbent and Charlene (Tom) Witner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Frances Sigel; brother, Robert Sigel; daughter, Deborah Sigel and wife, Betty Fisher.

Calling hours and a memorial service will be held at the Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd., Fairlawn, beginning at 5:30 on Thurs. June, 12, with refreshments and fellowship following. Private inurnment at Western Reserve National Cemetery.
