TALLMADGE -- John R. Bell, 88, passed away July 7, 2014.
John was born in Reynoldsville, West Virginia and lived in the Tallmadge area most of his life. He was a truck driver for Roadway, retiring in 1991 with 35 years service. John served during World War II with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Chapel Hill Christian Missionary Alliance Church. He was a good provider and enjoyed bowling and traveling, spending time with his family, and he had a friendly and outgoing personality.
John was preceded in death by his parents, David and Sarah Bell; wife, Rosey; a brother and two sisters.
John is survived by his daughters, Shirley (Junior) Strader and Linda Lowe; sons, David (Vickie) Bell, Ron (Claudia) Bell, and Ken Bell; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Goldie, Nina (Bud), and Marie (Lee); and a brother, Bob (Wilma).
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at the Donovan Funeral Home (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle), followed by service at 7 p.m., with Pastor Kurt Huber and Pastor Donnal L. Markham officiating and burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at 11:15 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014. In lieu of flowers, any donations may be toward funeral expenses in care of Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Avenue, Tallmadge, OH 44278.
