Julia "Judy" Ferko

Julia "Judy" Ferko, born July 5, 1921 to the late Samuel and Julia (Brna) Kubic in Barberton, Ohio passed away on July 12, 2014.

Judy graduated from Norton High School in 1938 and married Frank Ferko on October 11, 1941. During the war she worked for the government, first as a gas mask inspector and then as an intake interviewer for Army draftees. She was a stay at home mom until 1967 when she rejoined the work force as a secretary/receptionist until she retired in 1975. She started flea marketing in Irwin, Pa. as a leisure past time and tuned it into a business after returning to Ohio in 1986. Judy worked hand in hand with Frank until they finally gave up the business in 2003. Judy loved her church, serving as a Sunday School teacher, member of LWML, Ladies Aid and choir member. Judy enjoyed reading, especially her Bible, as well as crocheting, sewing and loved music. She made many priceless treasures for her daughters as well as numerous afghans. Judy was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and was always a Christian role model for her children. She loved her Lord with all her heart first of all and devoted her life to her church and her family.

Preceded in death by her parents; brothers Joe, Sam and Steve; sisters, Elizabeth North, Sue Robinson and Katherine Grecni. She leaves behind her husband, Frank; daughters, Judy (Jerry) Goodpasture of Uniontown, Patty (Steve) Cook of Brandon, Fla. and Carol (Scott) Guiler of Columbus; son, Frank Ferko Jr. of Princeton, N.J.; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 11 A.M. on Friday July 18, 2014 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church 7707 Market Ave. N, North Canton, Ohio 44721 with Pastor Kip Smith officiating. Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 P.M. on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON CHAPEL and Friday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church prior to the service.
