BARBERTON -- Barbara Ellen Sweazy (nee Carnes), 60, departed from this earthly life on Monday, July 14th 2014 after a courageous two year battle with ovarian cancer. Her illness wore down her body, but never her spirit.
Barb was born in Barberton on August 21, 1953 to Pauline and Frank Carnes. Barb spent most of her life in Barberton, but enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, Arizona. She enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, cooking and spending time with her friends and family. Barb was also an avid member of several local clubs and was a 1971 graduate of Barberton High School.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her sister, Janis Millican; and life partner of 30 years, James Little Sr. She is survived by her brother, James Klimp and her sister, Fran Dooley. She will be sadly missed by all who love her, including her niece, Paula Zamary; great-nieces, Marissa and Kylie Zamary; nephews, Justin Klimp and Nicholas, Daniel and Brandon Millican.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to all who helped care for Barb, including Summa Hospice, the Infusion Center at Barberton Hospital and special friends Marge, Bonnie and Sue.
Calling hours will be held TODAY, Thursday, July 17th from 5 to 8 p.m. and funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 18th at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home (566 W. Park Ave. in Barberton), with graveside service at Lakewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to FORCE (www.FacingOurRisk.org). The mission of this non-profit organization is to educate and support families and individuals who have been impacted by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.
