Herman R. Dunwald Sr.
BARBERTON -- Herman R. Dunwald Sr., 88, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family.
A resident of Barberton for 66 years, he was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II. He retired from Babcock and Wilcox after 40 years of service. Herman was an active member of Moore Memorial St. Paul's United Methodist Church, a member and past exulted ruler of BPOE #982 of Barberton, Barberton Moose #759 and VFW Post #1066.
He was known as the "Ketchup Man" at Decker Head Start and was an avid fisherman.
Preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Erna; daughter, Erma Jean Darnell; sister, Arlunda and brother, Edward; Herman is survived by his children, Mary (Rick) Faulmann of Colorado, Herman Ray Jr. (Denise) of Toledo, Linda (Crispin) Smith of Green, Karen (Peter) Roman of Cranberry, Pa., Doug (Barb) of Barberton Daphne (Paul) Coleman of N. Carolina, Dana Marsh (Paul) of Barberton; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; along with other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held TODAY at 4 p.m. at the Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home, 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton 44203 with Fr. Michael Petrochuk officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. till time of service. Inurnment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the
