Peter Joseph Lukacik

Peter Joseph Lukacik, 90, of Brimfield, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at Akron City Hospital.

He was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Meadow Brook, W. Va., to Vincent and Agnes (Matula) Lukacik. He served in the Army during World War II. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Akron and a master's degree from Kent State University in physical education. He taught in the Akron elementary school system as a member of Akron Board of Education for 32 years from 1952 until his retirement from Betty Jane in 1984. Peter was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Akron.

To the staff of Stow Glen Retirement Center and to those who cared for "Uncle Pete,""as he was known during the time he spent there and putting up with the teasing and the special names he gave them, THANK YOU. The family would also like to thank the nurses at Hospice of Summa for their loving care.

Survivors include brother, Joseph Lukacik of Kent; sisters, Mary Segerlund of Akron, Ann Jussel of Fairfax, Va., and Jo Ann Wilson of California; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by brothers, Stephen, Carl, Eddie, Alexander, and John Lukacik.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory in Kent, where funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday. Burial will be at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
