Olive M. Cairns (nee Etter) passed away July 24, 2014, after a brief illness.
Born October 26, 1921, in Carlyle, Illinois, she was a 60-year resident of Akron and an active, dedicated community member of numerous organizations, including serving on the Board at St. Thomas Hospital, a founding member of St. Hilary Parish, a volunteer at Our Lady of the Elms, and an Honorary Trustee of the Akron Symphony Orchestra.
Olive is now reunited in Christ with her loving husband of 60 years, Joseph; her sons, Alan and Doug; and her daughter, Shiril.
She will be remembered by family and friends for her devotion to Our Lord and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Her faith not only sustained her but served as an inspiration to others faced with life's serious challenges.
Olive will be deeply missed by her son, Don (Judi); her daughter, Corinne; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 W. Market St. in Fairlawn, 44333, where friends may call one hour prior to service time. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.Memorials in her name may be given to the
