He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Naval Air Corps during the Korean War, and later joined the American Legion in Sebring.

Carl retired from the Chrysler Twinsburg Plant after 31 years of service, but he never quit being an engineer. He was a jack-of-all-trades and had a passion for education, especially science and astronomy. Carl was recently enrolled in online college astronomy courses. His other interests included sports and music. Carl was a lifelong fan of the Buckeyes, Indians, and Browns. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with the church choir, as well as his family.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta (Loach) Bennett, and their children: Christina (Bill) Bennett Wilson, Cynthia (Stephen) Bennett-Brown, Randall (Karen) Bennett, Catherine (Carlo) Cornacchione, and Joseph (Amy) Bennett. Carl's memory will also be cherished by his 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his sister, Mildred Cafcules.
