William Joseph Howes, 73, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2014.
William was born in Richey-ville, Pennsylvania to parents, Charles and Blanche Howes on May 2, 1941. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Rotek where he had been an inspector. Later, he worked part-time at NAPA in Streetsboro as well as Walmart in Brimfield and Ravenna. He was affectionately known as "Bill" to his family and friends. Bill had a great sense of humor and loved to make everyone laugh. He liked family gatherings, loved to eat and enjoyed traveling, especially when the destination was to Mountaineer. Bill enjoyed flea markets and was quite a collector. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Bill is survived by his children, Terri Howes, Debbie McPeak, Charlene Elliot, Joe (Marie) Howes and Marcie Howes. He also leaves his 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Surviving also are his brothers, Gene (Carole) Howes, Wally (Nancy) Howes, Kenneth (Janet) Howes; his sisters, Rita (Ed) Slusser, Sandy Monroy, and Lorelei Roth; left also to cherish his memory is his special friend, Jan Thrasher; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his great-granddaughter, Faith Shaffer.
Family will receive friends at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. where funeral services, officiated by Pastor Roy Teague will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014, at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Atwater Cemetery.
