James A. Racco, 72, passed away August 16, 2014.
Born in Akron, James lived all his life in the area. He served in the U.S. Army, was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. James was a proud 1959 graduate of Hoban High School. He retired in 1991 as Chief Construction Inspector with the City of Akron after 31 years of service. He most recently worked at Ellsworth Meadows Golf Course. He was an avid golfer and was a member of PAC, PRCUA, and PNA.
James is survived by his wife, Kay; sisters, Elizabeth (Darryl) Innocenzi of Macedonia, Therese (William) Burke of New York, New York; brother, Nick Racco of Medina; sisters-in-law, Joanne Nace of Norton, Midge Hagenbaugh of Wadsworth; brothers-in-law, Larry (Corrine) Hagenbaugh of Doylestown, Harry (Eileen) Hagenbaugh of Rootstown; nephew, Daniel Racco; niece, Emily Racco; special grandpa to Dominic VanDerlin; and loving uncle to many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicola and Pauline (Pace) Racco; sister in-law, Marilyn (Blake) LeMaster; brothers-in-law, Charles Hagenbaugh, Richard (Emma) Hagenbaugh, Jack (Margaret) Hagenbaugh, Mike Hagenbaugh, Larry Nace, Gerald Hagenbaugh.
Visitation will be 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (On the Historic Tallmadge Circle).
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 83 Mosser Place, Akron, OH 44310. Procession to form at the church. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and caregivers at AGMC Oncology Dept. and Altercare Rehabilitation Center in Brimfield. Special thanks to Rev. Harold Duncan and the congregation of Eastgate Alliance Church.
