Jimmie David Jackson passed away suddenly at the age of 64.
Jimmie was born on July 13, 1950 in Columbia, Mississippi to Letha Brown and Robert Lee Jackson. Jimmie was a kind-hearted and loving person who loved spending time with his family and friends, just having a good time.
Jimmie served in the United States Army for four years and was a Vietnam Veteran.
Jimmie retired from Brecksville Veterans Administration Medical Center as a cook in Nutrition and Foods with 33 years of service.
He was preceded in death by parents; sister, Doris Woods; stepchildren, Yvette Marshall (PI) and Garland Marshall (Pookie).
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Anita Jean Jackson of 35 years who he affectionately called "Shug"; stepdaughter, Carla Marshall-Pitts (Michael); grandchildren, De'Lamon Marshall (Sibyl), Bryan Esters, Takia Marshall and TreVonte' Marshall; 17 great-grandchildren, all of Akron; brother, Carl McClendon (Gloria) of Cleveland; brothers-in-law, James Croom (Lola) of California and Michael Frazier of Akron; sister-in-law, Carmia Gwen (Herald), deceased, of Akron; aunt, Ethelene Johnson of Cleveland; uncle, Cornelius Brown of Solon; nephews, Jeffrey Gwen, William Gwen, and Johnny Gissendaner, all of Akron, Rasheem Toney (Stephanie) of Columbus, Alexander Toney (Amber) of California; a host of cousins, family and friends.
Service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 at 12 noon at New Hope Baptist Church, 1706 S. Hawkins Ave., Akron, Ohio 44320, Pastor David Nelson eulogizing. Interment service at Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends and family may visit the church from 11 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 867 Nome Ave., Akron, OH 44320.
