Mark Dominic Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 18, 2018.
Mark Michael Dominic

Mark Michael Dominic, 49 years old, joined his beloved mother in eternal rest on March 11, 2018. Like his mother, Mark passed from a heart attack.

Mark was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Virgil and Dorothy Ann (Baumann) Dominic on March 7, 1969. He is survived by his father, Virgil Dominic; stepmother, Shawn McCary Dominic; his sister, Debbie (Frank) Lautenbach of University Heights, Ohio; nieces, Denise (Dan) Perry and Kristen Lautenbach of San Diego, California, Sarah Lautenbach (fiance James Trotier) of Cleveland, Ohio; great niece, Anna Denise Perry; extended family, Debbie, Mike and Mike Leidy of Akron, Ohio; aunt, Wilma Dominic of New Braunfels, Texas; godparents, Diana and Jim Russo of Shaker Heights, Ohio; honorary aunts and uncles, Edna (Paul-deceased) Stein, Micki (John-deceased) Maniscalco; and many loving cousins in Texas. He was preceded in death by his uncles, Leonard Dominic and Robert Dominic.

Mark was a 1987 graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School and attended college at the University of Oklahoma. At the time of his passing he was employed as a broadcast technician at WRTV, Channel 6, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the management and staff of Channel 6. Their support, encouragement and warm friendship contributed greatly to the fact that the last year of Mark's life was his happiest.

Mark had a passion for broadcasting and for sports. He was an avid and loyal fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. He and his Dad enjoyed attending many games together. Mark had an incredible memory for statistics and could recall in detail the highlights of games played many years in the past.

He will always be remembered as a man who loved his family and showed it in many ways, including smiles, laughter and lots of hugs which we shall greatly miss. In return, his family loved him completely. It is this love that we shall always remember, not the loss.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Gesu in University Heights when arrangements can be made for the family to gather.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Martin de Porres High School, 6111 Laushe Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103 (saintmartincleveland.org) or Now Creations Spiritual Center, 407 Medowbrook Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44152 or a charity of your choice.

The past is gone now, but its beauty remains.

My cousin, Mark: Always with a smile on this face to go with his tender heart. He possessed a knowledge of sports which was "out of this world!" A beautiful son from a beautiful family!
I loved the picture which cousin, Lucy, displayed of her father-Uncle Leonard, with Mark in the sombrero! "Welcome to Texas, Mark!"

Psalm 27:4-5: "One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in his temple. For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of HIs sacred tent and set me high upon a rock."

"Vaya con Dios, Amigo!"

May God bless the Dominic family and love you in your time of grief. Mark was one of my best friends. I live in Houston and I bumped into him on a Browns fans message board. Our friendship clicked right from the start. Since that day several years ago, Mark and I texted Browns and Indians stuff multiple times daily, talked frequently, and had lunch together. I'm originally from Sharon, PA. After Mark moved back to Cleveland, he even drove to Sharon to have dinner with my wife and I when we visited our families up north. I was excited about his move to Indianapolis, seemed like the perfect situation for Mark. He was one of the happiest, most carefree and giving people I've known. His loss is felt deep into my heart. It gives me comfort to know he has many friends and a loving family to embrace his spirit. I miss you my friend. God bless.

What I will miss most about Mark is his unconditional love for people. He expressed it in so many ways. His smile, a gesture, a kind word, a funny joke, and best of all, a warm bear hug. Knowing that he is being rewarded in heaven take a little of the sadness away, because I know the bear hug he gives me when we meet again will be the best one yet. Blessings and prayers from André and Sally.

It was a joy having Mark as a good friend, but I thought of him more as a little brother. It made me happy to know he could call me and ask for advice, or to shoot me an occasional message just to say hello and let me know what was going on in his life. Such a kind, happy soul. It's difficult for me to think those conversations will now be with God. May his blessed memory be eternal.

My sincerest condolences to the Dominics. Words can never express the sorrow a person feels in such an obviously tragic time.

I will miss my sweet cousin, Mark. His cousins in Texas always loved to show him a great time when he would come to visit. I came across the photo I posted earlier and couldn't help but smile. How my dad (Uncle Leonard to Mark) loved to entertain any family member or friend anytime, anywhere. I have this picture in my mind of Uncle Leonard and Uncle Bob welcoming home Mark in their unique and wonderful way. Remember the joy. May God's peace be with you at this time.

My heart was broken when I heard the news of my sweet cousin passing. My memories of him will always be of laughter and smiles, he had the best smile and always made me laugh! This picture is from years and years ago but he looks so handsome and there is that smile! I am praying for you sweet Uncle Virgil, Aunt Shawn, Debbie and family that you will find peace and comfort in this difficult time.

I am really going to miss Mark. Mark was a positive person who I knew was going to be in a good mood every time I was going to be working with him. Every morning Mark would tune our helicopter signal in and he was such a wonderful voice to hear over the 2 way radio. You will be missed but your attitude and heart will live on at RTV6.

How sad I was to hear the passing of my sweet cousin, Mark. I came across this picture not too long ago. It made me smile remembering the good times we showed our dear cousin when he came to visit his Texas family. I can picture in my mind Uncle Leonard and Uncle Bob welcoming home Mark in their unique and wonderful way. Let the memories comfort you. May God's peace and love guide you during this difficult time.

I worked with Mark at RTV6. His friendly smile always invited conversation. We had many about sports and the weather. Mark talked sports and I brought weather into the conversation. I called him "Doc" since his initials were MD. I miss his smiling face here at work. Mark you will always be remembered.

I lost touch with Mark after High School, but I always felt that when we would someday bump into each other we would pick up as if no time had passed. It's been decades, but it seems like just yesterday when I saw him last. I'll always remember him as a happy young man, filled with energy, a great friend, and someone who I'll never forget.

God bless you Dom

I was lucky enough to work with Mark at WRTV in Indianapolis. Mark always had a smile on his face, and a good word for everyone he met. He was a sharp guy who knew his job and did it well. He loved to talk about Cleveland and Cleveland sports and was an all around good egg. Everyone here misses him greatly. Our condolences go out to his family for this terrible loss. Godspeed, buddy!

Its been a week since hearing of the news and my heart still hurts. Mark was the 1st friend I made at WJ, the friendship stayed in tack thru College years, got even deeper after to the point he was a groomsmen in my wedding, to the present meeting him often for lunch. He was, is, and will always be considered one of my dearest friends.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my condolences to the entire Dominic Family.

I am thankful for having had the opportunity to reconnect with Mark at one of our recent high school reunions. We spent a good deal of time talking about his position with the Tony Rizzo Show and it was clear that Mark was very passionate about his position. He truly loved his work. I remember feeling somewhat envious that Mark had pursued his passion and was so happy in his professional life.

Mark was always a fun person to be around. Even though many years had passed between high school and our reunion, it was easy to fall back into the friendly banter that comes with attending an all male high school. Mark was a good classmate and friend who will be greatly missed!

Rest in peace Mark!

I enjoyed reconnecting with Mark at a Walsh Class of 1987 Alumni function a few years ago. After that time, we had some great conversations, usually about old school pro wrestling. Like many of our classmates, I was deeply saddened when I learned of his passing last week. I remember him as a really nice guy who always had a smile on his face. My deepest sympathies on your loss.

March 19, 2018

Friends since high school I am deeply saddened that Mark is no longer with us. Although he moved out of state, we continued to speak weekly, sometimes daily. He always found a way to make me laugh through a quirky text and his Cleveland sports insight was uncanny. During football season he would text me every Sunday to make sure I was having fun tailgating during the Browns home games. As silly as it sounds I am going to really miss that simple gesture. There are so many things I am going to miss. All of this still hasn't fully registered with me yet but I do miss you brother. Rest in peace my dear friend. -Frank Sulka

Dear Virgil, I am so sorry to learn of Mark's sudden passing. My condolences to you and your family. My boys and I had the good fortune to spend time with Mark when he was a young boy, and I was able to watch him grow into a fine young man. He will be missed, but he is now reunited with his beloved mother Dottie, and will be warmly remembered . Grant Zalba

So sad to hear the news of Marc's sudden passing. When we worked together at Fox 8 here in Cleveland Marc always stopped by my desk to say hi and catch up. Mark also left quite an impression on my wife Mary, she too loved working with him. Marc will be missed but we will remember him always. Prayers to Marc's family during this difficult time.
