Mary Pescan Obituary
She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1996 and her daughter, Melanie Pescan in 2008.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Barbara (partner Ann Tyndall) Pescan of Chicago; grandson, Benjamin Walkuski of Akron; sisters, Flo Sinea and Anne (Nick) Flora; many nieces and nephews.
Mary was a WAC veteran of World War II. She was an alumna of Akron University and taught primary school at Firestone Park Elementary for 27 years. Mary was also a longtime member of the Unitarian Universalist Church. Ben and Barbara would like to express their great appreciation to the staff of Haven Homes in Stow, Rockynol and Hospice of Summa for their loving care.
A memorial service will be held on December 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3300 Morewood Rd., Akron 44333. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the church.

My memories of Aunt Mary are many, filled with love and lots of laughter with her and the rest of our wonderful relatives. She was smart, funny, strong and wonderful. I and so many others will miss this lovely woman.

Mrs. Pescan was my very first teacher,at Firestone Park in 1957. What a wonderful way to start my education..she was gentle and kind, and set the tone for all my future school experiences. I have always remembered her. My thoughts and prayers go out to all her family.

I remember Mrs. Pescan from my days at Firestone Park school. She taught kindergarten at the time. What a wonderful teacher of young children. I am sorry for your loss.

What a dear woman Mary was...so many kind and quiet ways....times in her home will always be warm memories for me,..her two beautiful daughters reflect all that was good in her. Rest in peace, dear teacher. Love and prayers to family....
