Ruth Bishop Obituary

Ruth Marie (Cleckner) Bishop, 86, died peacefully Sat., Jan. 9, 2010.

Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Stan; she leaves behind her children and their families to celebrate her life.

Ruth was born to Ruth and "Turp" Cleckner of Doylestown. She was the only girl, with four brothers. David and Bill preceded her in death. The twins, Don (Esther) and Den (Lois) are always ready to share wonderful stories of their childhood.

Ruth and Stan had four children, Becky (Randy) Heintzman, Susan (Don) Suboticki, Mary (Steve) Marchese and Andy (Veronica) Bishop. They rejoice and celebrate her life. Her grandchildren, Ella (Deke), Sarah (Chad), Rick, Joe, David, Jean (Shaun), Jillian, Jennifer and Katie have books, poetry, boating and chocolate chip cookies to remember Grandma Ruth. Her great-grandcdhildren, Haley and Ian have many pictures and stories to make sure they will always know how very special their great-grandma was.

Growing up, as the daughter of a librarian, her life was full of books. She passed that love of the written word down to all her children. There were always books to read. She was a member of the Book Club and took her children to the Barberton Library for story time. Ruth loved to paint and plant flowers. Her home was warm and welcoming. There's no place like home. Her creative, literary mind and quick wit touched the lives of many family and friends.

Ruth was an RN and served the profession well. She joined the Army during World War II and cared for the returning, injured soldiers. She also nursed at Barberton Citizens Hospital in the neonatal unit. She needed to "rock the babies." She was a caregiver, a nurturer.

While some people may visit their parents, Ruth's children and in-laws were her friends. Ruth and Stan were an integral part of the group of boaters. Many vacations and picnics were enjoyed by family and friends. All were welcome. There's always room for one more. By example, she taught her family to love, respect and enjoy life.

The family is very grateful to the wonderful, kind, caring staff at Sterling House of Barberton and Crossroads Hospice, who gave our Mom so much tender loving care. Special blessings to Debbie.

Ruth was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church.

To the family of Ruth Marie, I have known Ruth all my life, since I was living next door while growing up.

She was a lovely person, and my hero.

She was loved by all that knew her.

May the Lord bless you and keep you
May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.

To Ruth's family....

I just wanted to let you know that the beautiful tribute that you wrote honoring your Mom was so touching that it has made me cry ~ what a wonderful person she must have been, and how LUCKY you all are, to have your hearts rooted in the garden of her love.

Thank you, Ruth, for the treasure you have left the world - your legacy of LOVE.

And to each of you, may the places where you now feel empty because of grief soon be warmed and overflowing with your lifetime memories.

God bless....
