Walter McNulty Obituary

BARBERTON Walter J. McNulty, age 84, passed away February 9, 2010.

He was born December 5, 1925 in Boston, Mass., to James and Helen (McNeil) McNulty of Hyde Park. A long time resident of the Barberton area, he served with distinction as a Naval Aviator with Crew #5 VPB 21 in the Pacific during World War II, and received the Air Medal and distinguished Flying Cross for his service. Walter graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and enjoyed a forty year career as a project manager for T.L.T. Babcock, and a regional manager for Westinghouse.

Preceded in death by brother, Leo J. McNulty; sisters, Agnes McCarron and Constance Peak, he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean L. (O'Hara) McNulty; son, Michael ``Mike' (Angie) McNulty of Uniontown; grandchildren, Shannon and Shawn M. (Brandi) McNulty; great-grandson, Camdyn Jagger McNulty; many nieces and nephews from Massachusetts and several of his shipmates from his Martin Mariner PBM crew.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Friday, February 12, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, 44230. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VNS of Akron, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333. (Zak-Thacker & Monbarren, 330-658-2211)
