Beatrice G. "Bea" Givens (nee Arrant), 70, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., passed away on April 20, 2010, at her son's home.|
Born on August 5, 1939, in Murphy, N.C., the second of eight children of Luther and Ethel Arrant, Bea grew up in Mogadore, Ohio, graduating from Suffield School. On May 13, 1960, Bea married Glenn Givens, her childhood sweetheart and embarked on a 21 year life as a proud Air Force wife.
In various duty stations throughout the U.S., Bea and Glenn became parents of Gregory Glenn, Monica Ann Kilpatrick, Matthew Allen and Mark Arthur. Their travels included many European countries while stationed in Naples, Italy.
Bea is predeceased by her husband, Glenn; her parents, Luther and Ethel; sister, Nancy; and brother, Larry. She is survived by her sons, Gregory (Patricia), Matthew (Michon), Mark (Sarah) and her daughter, Monica (Jim) and 12 grandchildren; sister's, Betty (Don) Kreiner, Aileen Mullaney, Margaret Arrant and brother's, Edward (Carol) Arrant and William (Yvonne) Arrant and nieces and nephews.
Bea was the former owner of The Trophy Center, Inc. until 2003. During this time she was an active member in the Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce; Ambassadors; Billy Bowlegs Festival; International Festival; and many other chamber functions.
As a cancer survivor, she has been active on the Board of Directors of the
and has had a
team for 12 years. She has served on many committees, including Survivor Chair and Director of
. She spent time working anywhere needed in the
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 29 at the Mogadore Christian Church, 106 S. Cleveland Avenue with visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to The
