On February 11, 1934 Rev. Pervis Chavis was born to the late Patrick and Maggie Lee Chavis in Oxford, N.C.
Preceding him in death, his parents; three brothers, James R., Jerry D., and Robert Chavis; two sisters, Bernice Royster, and Mary Lee Chavis.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 53 years, Dorothy C. Chavis; five children, Curtis (Donna) Chavis, Gary and Allen Chavis; two daughters, Cynthia and Debra Chavis, all of Akron, Ohio.; six grandchildren, Anthony and Darcell Keys, of Las Vegas, Nev., Tiara Chavis, Marvantoinette Gordon, Paris Chavis-Managan, Christina Chavis-Nurse; great grandson, Czar Ryan Keys; five sisters, Cora Norwood, Estelle (Monroe) Millender, all of Akron, Ohio, Mamie (Willie) Evans, Estoria Robertson, and Emma Alston, all of Oxford, N.C.; two brothers, Johnnie (Hattie) Chavis, Leo (Kathren) Chavis, of Durham, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, family and The Akron Missionary Baptist Church.
We loved him but God love him more.
Homegoing services will be held Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Akron Missionary Baptist Church, 17 W. Cuyahoga Falls Ave., Akron, OH 44310, Rev. Homer Williams officiating. Interment Monday, October 18, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church Friday, October 15, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 1328 Hartford Ave., Akron, OH 44320.
