I am very sorry to hear about Barry's passing. He was a consumate professional. While an assistant prosecutor, I worked with Barry on several cases. He always welcomed my advice and was sure to get things done. Law enforcement has lost a good man.
The last time I saw Barry was at the Akron Jewish Center and he was working out with his daughter. He was very proud of her as we talked about our children.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My heart goes out to the Milich family. I've known Barry for many years with some great times to remember having shared with him. His conversations left little doubt as to his straight forward, thorough, no nonsense approach to work issues. I remember several times regardless as to what he was involved in at work, he would stop everything he was doing, to praise his wife Laura and childen, Lindsay and Nicholas of whom he was extremely proud. I will truely miss him and he'll always hold a spot in my thoughts of the good times. Robert Saraceno

Dear Laura,

I pray for you and your children. The Lord Jesus will be your guide and the children's guide through all of this. I will not claim to know what you are going through right now. That would be a lie. I met you once a long time ago when I was working in the area of Central Control. My partner covered for me while I went out to meet you and Barry. Afterwords, Barry talked about his family and especially you. Nothing but good remarks about you! I can see why he chose you to be his wife. Barry was a great leader and I feel bad that I never had the chance to befriend him in all my years (17 years) working with him. He was a natural born Leader and one of the best at the SCSO. He was always fair and if you were right he would back you. I am a better person from knowing him. I am sad that he is gone.

Dear Laura, Lindsay and Nick:

May you know the presence of God in this time of grief. Barry was the greatest! When I first came to the Summit County Sheriff's Office and was absolutely overwhelmed with the job, the challenges that lay ahead of me, Barry reassured me over and over again of his willingness to help in any way he could. We became good friends throughout the years and it was a privilege to watch you kids grow up with respect, kindness and courtesy, all attributes of what ALL dads are supposed to pass on to their children. He, himself, met the challenges of life with professionalism and great courage. What a heritage to leave to his dear, precious wife and children. Jim and I pray for comfort and sustaining grace on the journey ahead.

Laura & family, It was with great sadness that I learned of Barrys passing. I had worked many years with Barry begining back under my Uncle Tony Cardarelli when he was Sheriff. Barry was a great man and he had knowledge, energy and pride and he put them to good use teaching all of us the ropes. Barry will always be remembered for all the good he did for the Deputies and the community. Barry will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. God bless Barry as well as you and your family.
