Clarence E. "Ed" Parks Obituary

Clarence E. "Ed" Parks, 93, passed away January 21, 2012.

Ed was born in Jellico, Tenn. on March 22, 1918, and lived in Akron most of his life. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II as Troop Transport. After serving in the Armed Forces, he worked for Goodyear Tire & Rubber in the boiler room for over 30 years, retiring in 1979. Ed was a member of VFW Post 8975, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 555.

Preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Parks; brother, Carl V. Parks; and son, Carl Parks, he is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Mildred; daughter, Carolyn (Jim) Herston; grandchildren, Bart (Dee) Cox, Michael (Amy) Cox, Morgan (Julie) Parks and Sara (Lance) Hull; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, 3 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron 44312, with Rev. Fleary Spurlock officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
